Boston Children’s Museum Announces the CreatedBy Festival, October 25-26, 2019

June 20, 2019
Exhibitor Applications Now Being Accepted for Two-Day Event
Boston Children’s Museum will host the CreatedBy Festival in collaboration with Mass STEM Week and CBS Boston, as well as partners Artisan’s Asylum, New England FIRST, Olin College of Engineering, Boston Public Schools, and the City of Boston. This two-day event, a showcase and celebration of ingenuity, imagination, and cross-disciplinary creativity, will be held on October 25th and 26th inside and outside Boston Children’s Museum on Fort Point Channel.

The festival will bring together artists, engineers, inventors, students, fabricators, Museum staff, and local makers for an all-ages event featuring exhibitor showcases, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, talks, performances, food, and more. The event is produced by the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) education team at Boston Children’s Museum.

“Our mission is to curate an event that celebrates the creativity and eureka moments that occur every day in Boston, ensuring that it is local, inspiring, and fun!” said Neil Tembulkar, STEAM Project Manager. “We expect CreatedBy Festival 2019 to be the beginning of an exciting format and venue to share knowledge and ideas in an enjoyable way. We are especially excited to be a part of Mass STEM Week this year, helping us engage with elementary schoolers, educators, and community groups around the Greater Boston Area.” Massachusetts STEM Week, an initiative of Governor Baker’s administration in its fourth year, aims to spark student interest and knowledge by declaring an entire STEM-focused week from October 21st to 25th. On the final day of Mass STEM Week, Boston Children’s Museum will celebrate the CreatedBy Festival and welcome the entire city to participate in STEMulating fun!

As a primary content partner, Artisan’s Asylum will offer a variety of workshops, demonstrations, and installations to bring cutting edge ideas, flair, and substance to the event. "This is our second year partnering with the Boston's Children's Museum to bring joy and discovery to children, families and educators across the greater Boston region,” said Lars Hasselblad Torres, Executive Director of Artisan's Asylum, the east coast's largest makerspace. “CreatedBy is going to be a thrilling, two-day experience of ideas, exploration and hands-on activities powered by some of the most exciting innovators we know. If I were planning my school's fall calendar, I'd want to ensure CreatedBy is on it!"

The CreatedBy Festival has opened applications for interested exhibitors to participate. Innovators who have participated well as new start-up companies, organizations, non-profits, makerspaces, university and high-school students, and DIY enthusiasts are encouraged to share their work by applying to exhibit at this year’s Festival. All ages can and should apply! Applications can be submitted by visiting

CreatedBy Festival sponsors, who make this event possible, include BNY Mellon, MEFA’s U.Fund College Investing Plan that is managed by Fidelity, Autodesk, National Grid, and MathWorks. With the support of these and other sponsors, Boston Children’s Museum has been able to meaningfully engage a diverse variety of learners and community groups, as well as offer a robust selection of hands-on workshops and stimulating performances that inspire anyone who likes to try new things, imagine, and create!
