Boston Children's Museum Announces New Sponsor for $1 Friday Nights

October 31, 2018
Popular Friday Evening Program That Provides an Affordable and Fun Experience for Thousands of Massachusetts Families to be Supported by The TJX Companies, Inc.
Boston Children’s Museum today announced a collaboration with The TJX Companies, Inc., the leading off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions in the U.S. and worldwide, to continue to offer the Museum’s $1 Friday Nights, when visitors of all ages can enjoy the Museum for $1 from 5-9 pm. TJX is the parent company of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra Trading Post, and Homesense in the U.S., as well as other international off-price retailers.

$1 Friday Nights is one of the Museum’s most beloved and enduring programs. Spanning four decades, this popular evening attracts over 55,000 people each year, 10% of Boston Children’s Museum’s total visitation, and provides access to the Museum for everyone, underscoring the on-going need for affordable educational opportunities for young learners throughout the Commonwealth.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have the TJX Companies, Inc. as our new $1 Friday Night sponsor,” said Carole Charnow, President & CEO. “With their support, we can continue this popular 40+ year’s tradition of access to one of Boston’s treasured destinations. This sponsorship ensures that families of all means have an opportunity to visit the Museum and experience hands-on engagement and playful learning at an affordable price. Also, like many of our visitors, I am a frequent customer of all of the TJX stores, and I am excited by the possibility of the many ways we can bring more fun and value to our visitors!”

Examples of $1 Friday Night programs include:

  • STEAM Interactive Learning – Problem solving in a hands-on way that emphasizes open-ended discovery and experimentation in science, technology, engineering, art/design and math.
  • School Readiness and School Success – Activities to help the youngest learners build skills for school. The Museum’s Countdown to Kindergarten is a model classroom that invites children and their parents to have a typical kindergarten experience.
  • Pop-up Play Night – Imagine, create, and wonder! Construct a cardboard creation, make a fantastic fort, or add to a giant tapescape. Play is powerful – experiment with familiar and unfamiliar materials, and try something new.
  • Kids Jam – DJ‐lead family dance party that gets kids of all ages moving together and enjoying physical activity.

Boston Children’s Museum is an invaluable resource in that it provides delightfully interactive STEAM and multicultural experiences that engage the whole family. The Museum also offers visitors additional Ways to Save. Options for discounted Admission are available at
