(BOSTON, MA) October 12, 2010, Featuring the works of 15 local artists, Heavy Metal: Reclaimed and Recycled Artwork features metal that has been welded, twisted, nailed, and woven out of everything from aluminum cans to cast iron!
Boston’s most unexpected art gallery resides between a workshop where kids are sawing away at wood blocks and an exhibit where families are spinning tops. "The Gallery" at Boston Children’s Museum is hosting its 18th show since 2007 featuring the works of 15 local artists showcasing Heavy Metal.
Kids of all ages love shiny objects, so this display is pulling people into the gallery space like moths to a lightbulb. This theme is ”bringing metal back” for a generation of parents who probably grew up touching, playing with, creating and imagining with metal, but whose kids probably rarely get near the stuff," said Bridget Matros, the Museum’s Arts Program manager. "My hope is that after seeing the work, recognizing the materials used, and meeting the artists, folks won’t be able to resist going home and finding some metal to tinker with.”

No magnets necessary - you won’t be able to resist the pull of the artwork! Put away the Aqua Net - not that kind of heavy metal. But rather actual metal pieces transformed into art.
