Dream It! Build It!
Construction shapes the world around us, influencing how we live, work, and play. At Boston Children’s Museum, Dream It! Build It! invites young visitors to explore the power of construction through creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on experiences. This interactive exhibit empowers children to dream up new ideas, design solutions, and build together—just like real-world architects, engineers, and builders.
Guided by the Dream / Design / Build framework, the exhibit introduces children ages 4-8 to the many aspects of construction, from planning and architecture to hands-on trades like carpentry, welding, and masonry. With a special emphasis on engaging girls and children of color, Dream It! Build It! fosters confidence, teamwork, and curiosity about the built world.
- DREAM: Imagine new structures and communities, explore different construction roles, and be inspired by real-life builders.
- DESIGN: Identify problems, create plans, test ideas, and develop solutions through experimentation.
- BUILD: Work independently or collaboratively to bring ideas to life using real tools and materials, gaining hands-on experience and confidence.
