Boston Children’s Museum’s Religious Literacy initiative aims to support children, families, caregivers, and practitioners of all belief backgrounds — religious, spiritual, non-religious/secular, or questioning — in learning about beliefs and understanding how they are intertwined with identity development and wellbeing.
Our Approach
BCM Religious Literacy Pillars
Pluralism
Recognizing religious identity as complex, cultural, and connected to lived experiences.
Openness
An approach that creates space for curiosity, rather than promoting religious certainties.
Intentionality
An inclusive practice reflected through our Engagement Principles.
Upcoming Programs
Community Gathering Table
Wednesday November 11 – Sunday November 15, 2026
The Common at Boston Children’s Museum
Join us for Community Gathering Table, a multi-day program inviting children and families to gather, just like at home. From around the table, visitors will come together to share and learn about beliefs and spirituality through music, storytelling, games, dance, visual arts, objects, and more. This fall, we are highlighting the theme Visible Beliefs: Expressions of Identity.
