Community Gathering Table

November 11-15, 2026

Community Gathering Table

Community Gathering Table is a multi-day program inviting children and families to gather, just like at home. From around the table, visitors will come together to share and learn about beliefs and spirituality through music, storytelling, games, dance, visual arts, objects, and more.

This fall, we are highlighting Visible Beliefs: Expressions of Identity. How do the ways people present themselves on the outside – including through clothing, hair, accessories, and more – reflect beliefs and identities?

Community Gathering Table is part of Boston Children’s Museum’s Religious Literacy Initiative, which aims to support children, families, caregivers, and practitioners of all belief backgrounds — religious, spiritual, non-religious/secular, or questioning — in learning about what we each believe and understanding how our beliefs are intertwined with identity development and well-being.

Make a beaded bracelet to take home! Choose beads and knots that remind you of people, memories, or things that are important to you. As you create, there will be a guided time to reflect on what each bead or knot means to you.

This workshop is led by artist Verónica A. Pèrez, whose work focuses on how stories and experiences can be overlooked or erased. Veronica also creates opportunities for people to connect through community braiding circles and workshops.
