A Trike Called Funk Presents: The Big Beat Drumming Series

Join us outside on the plaza for an energetic 4-part drumming series where you can experience global rhythms through hands-on music making! Taking place July 19, July 27, August 3, and August 10, each session features a DJ spinning music, dancing, live percussion and a drumming workshop with local guest artists.

Our second installment features Marcus Santos, a Brazilian percussionist and founder of Grooversity. A native of Bahia, Brazil, Marcus is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Afro-Brazilian music. He has led percussion workshops focused on music and social change at institutions around the world—including MIT, Harvard, Brown University, and the Universidad Central de Venezuela, as well as at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Participants will learn foundational drumming techniques and rhythm patterns rooted in Brazilian musical traditions.

Each session includes a funky dance warm-up led by A Trike Called Funk, followed by a featured artist-led workshop with time to freestyle and express your best moves!
