Community Gathering Table: Celebrating Heritage

Everyone has a “hairitage:! Join us to hear a read-aloud of Zara’s Wash Day, meet award-winning author Zenda Walker, and learn about different hair care and styling traditions.

Zenda is an award-winning author, celebrity hairstylist, and educator. Through her consulting business, Know Your Hairitage LLC, she partners with school districts to help students succeed with innovative curricula inspired by her award-winning books, Zara’s Wash Day and Zion’s Crown (Running Press Kids, 2024). The Know Your Hairitage Framework uses everyday cultural practices, such as hair care and styling traditions, as an entry point for academic learning and cultural celebration.
