COMMUNITY AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
Description

Boston Children’s Museum is seeking an individual who is well-organized, outgoing, enjoys engaging with families, has experience working in a multicultural setting, and has experience with community engagement programming to join our Community Engagement (CE) Team. The CE Team supports the mission and vision of the Museum by leveraging community partnerships to engage children and families in Museum programming and to provide access to the Museum’s many resources.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Community & Family Engagement, the Community and Family Engagement Coordinator (CEFC) is responsible for coordinating with various teams in conducting community conversations, scheduling and coordinating group visits, supporting the Museum’s rooftop garden programs and partnerships, managing the CE family engagement programs, and supporting internal and external community events. In addition, the CEFC will support the Director of Community Engagement in exhibit and program development through coordinating, scheduling, and community partner outreach.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate logistics for individual and community engagement-sponsored visits
  • Coordinate logistics for in-Museum programming in collaboration with Museum teams, including exhibit-based programming
  • Coordinate logistics for CE-related offsite community programs and events
  • Recruit parents/caregivers for CE family engagement programs and conduct onboarding
  • Coordinate and manage the logistics of CE family memberships
  • Correspond with community partners and organizations
  • Communicate with Museum teams to maintain/update the website and informational materials
  • Attended special events both onsite and offsite as assigned
  • Assist with audience research and collaborate with Museum evaluators
  • Support institutional and departmental initiatives, goals, and operations. Collaborate with Museum leadership to further the Museum’s mission and to ensure a cohesive staff culture
  • Participate in required all-staff activities, discussions, meetings, and training, and support museum staffing during high peak seasons and events
  • Other administrative tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of work experience; educational or community-based organization or related setting preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail, note taking, and coordinating with multiple teams and using various technologies and platforms (i.e. experience with Outlook emails and calendar management, Google Drive and its various applications, and Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, doodle polls or other survey platforms)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to a wide audience
  • Demonstrated experience with multitasking and working collaboratively
  • Must be flexible to work various schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • English, spoken and written, and proficiency in a second language are required; Spanish is highly desirable
  • Ability to facilitate programs and activities
  • Experience engaging with children and families
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills
  • Working Knowledge of Boston communities, resources, and neighborhoods
Working Conditions

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, talk, write, and type frequently; walk, bend, stoop, or kneel occasionally; lift, reach overhead, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: An open office environment exposed to typical office equipment and supplies, such as a desktop computer, multi-line phone, fax, printer, and shredder. The Office space and Museum exhibits can be fast-paced and occasionally loud during peak seasons.

Other Factors:   Standard schedule of Monday - Friday with required flexibility in work schedule and hours to support the Museum and Community Engagement programming and events schedule, holidays, weekends, and or school vacation weeks as required. Some travel for external events, meetings, or training. Some work may be performed remotely as approved by the manager.
