Boston Children’s Museum Land Acknowledgement
Boston Children’s Museum stands on the land and water of the ancestral home of the Massachusett people. We show respect to the Massachusett Tribe, who have lived here for generations and still live here today.
The Museum is built on landfill—a reality that highlights one way colonizers took control of and changed these sacred lands and waters. We recognize the past and continued impacts of the forcible removal of tribes from these lands and acknowledge the ongoing inequities perpetrated against Indigenous people.
Respect and acknowledgement alone are insufficient responses to the many harms perpetrated against Indigenous people. Boston Children’s Museum commits to taking action, building relationships with, and collaborating with our Indigenous neighbors. We thank our current Indigenous partners and are committed to working with many more Tribes and Nations to learn from, share, and celebrate their perspectives, histories, cultures, and stories.
